How To Remove Make-Up the Right Way

We know the feeling, you just got your make-up done, the slay gods blessed you, and you are enjoying every moment of your fresh beat. Every social media platform must see it; maybe you even Facetime your ex-boo to be seen. But now it’s time to go home, and you’re not ready to let it go. We’ve all been there, but your skin must breathe. We promise there’s another make-up slay in your future, but for now, Capture Cosmetics is breaking down how to remove make-up the right way.

Start With a Make-up Remover

Despite popular opinion, make-up removers are not the holy grail of removing your make-up. We know the irony is overwhelming. They are designed to take off make-up at the surface level. So, they are not made to clear out residue from the pores. Most foundations are created to last all day, and the properties tend to stay with the skin, so start with a dependable remover to take off the top layer of foundation, lipstick, and eyeshadows.

Cleanse Your Skin

After removing the make-up with a remover, you’ll want to go in with your usual cleanser. Be sure to pay close attention to the creases of the skin, around the nose, eyelids, the hairline, under the chin, and around the ears. Always be gentle and remember this is your time to decompress for the day.

Double Cleanse/Oil Cleanse

We’d recommend double cleansing, especially for heavier make-up applications. You can either go back for a second cleanse with your regular face wash or use two carrier oils such as sweet almond and rosehip oil and gently massage your face. The oil breaks down any additional makeup residue and leaves your skin feeling soft.  You can move on with the remainder of your skincare routine, including toner, serum, and moisturizer.

The best foundation for a perfect make-up regime is healthy skin. Allowing make-up to sit on your face overnight is a breeding ground for clogged pores. Do yourself and your skin a big favor and remove your make-up the right way. Your skin will love you for it.
